Summer Reflections: Gabrielle Henry-Galloway

Gabrielle last post the end

I have learned to manage my time during this summer. I had to balance this internship and summer classes. I also learned that it is ok to take a break. If I wear myself out then I am no good to anyone, including myself. I enjoyed traveling around between the counties meeting different people. I think the best part is seeing how people looked forward to working with us. We are always asked “Do you have any more of those wallet cards?” People are eager to know what is going on. Knowledge is power and they want to get their information from a trusted source.
Democracy summer has taught me how to organize people behind a specific cause and build coalitions. I plan on utilizing those skills as I move on and close this chapter of my life. This has been a great experience and I am sad it is over. Like they say, all good things come to an end, but I plan on still being an advocate for the community I live in.
