Class of 2015: Daniel Irvin

My name is Daniel Irvin, and this summer I will be one of the organizing interns for Northeastern North Carolina. I will be a senior next year at UNC-Chapel Hill, majoring in Public Policy and Philosophy and minoring in Environmental Studies. I am from Kinston, NC and will be living there for this summer as I work throughout eastern North Carolina.  Originally I am from Dryden, Virginia, but I moved to Kinston when I was 6 years old and have lived here ever since.

I am excited to begin working with Democracy North Carolina. One thing that I am looking forward to is working with our coalition partners and our community partners. I am interested to see how we can work together across our different organizations to achieve common goals. I am also excited to work on the ground at community events. We will be at a wide variety of community events this summer, registering voters and talking to them about voting. I am interested to see what kinds of issues local citizens are concerned about and how these issues can be connected to our central issue of building a government of, by, and for the people.
